Senior Citizens Home At Chettipalayam Of Coimbatore District

JCC Senior Citizens Home was started to address the shelter and nutrition needs of destitute senior citizens since 2008. At present the home has 25 elders in Chettipalayam of Madukkarai Taluk at Coimbatore District. JCC has been able to create conducive environments where the aged get a chance to engage with other people of their own aged people and also pursue a range of interest related activities.

Our old age homes aiming to meet their physical, psychological and spiritual requirements. Our staff expertise, knowledge, caring and understanding approach provides day to day support and encourages elders to lead a full and enriched life, through meaningful experiences. The programme has a linkage with the nursery school which is also located in the nearby campus where the small children are coming and also to have affectionate contact and relationship with the aged people.

Activities

Under healthcare, weekly doctor checkup, medicines are given, we serve healthy food including 3 items tea, lunch and tiffin. Weekly yoga class is arranged. Morning walk is practices. We celebrate birthday of every elders. Outing is also planned. Elders are given responsibility to resolve the problems. They are organised into committee. Even visitors appreciate elders involvements. Even local and women SHGs extend their able support and involvement in functioning of old age home.

We are happy to share that during this year, 2 elders were reunited with their families after our discussion and counselling with them. 3 deserted elders (2 male and 1 female) were newly admitted in Home. Thus totally the home taken care of 26 elders this year. As the yoga was done at early morning and evening, the elders are feel free from joint pain, breathing trouble, body pain, BP and reduction of sugar. Elders having Blood pressure, Sugar are obtaining free medicines and treatment from nearby Primary Health Centre. Celebrated important days and festivals such as Diwali, Pongal, Republic Day, Independence day, World Elders Day and Ayudha

Pooja along with community members and crèche children. The elders feel at home and enjoy the day with school children and community people.
